Difficult Empathy: A discussi

Educational Action Research Journal

In lieu of a formal book review of his recent work, Eric Leake was invited to take part in an interview to discuss the central ideas he puts forward about the practice of difficult empathy and how it might relate to the work we do as action researchers. This would be an important book at any time, but it is essential reading at the present moment when incivility, cruelty, and a distinct lack of empathy seem to be the political and cultural norms. Eric’s ideas about difficult and critical empathy will resonate with fellow action researchers and provide us with new tools to deepen our abilities to reflect on our own relationships with others and on how we seek to promote positive change in the world around us.
Please check out his book, Difficult Empathy, Education, and the Work of Social Change and please read the full interview in the Educational Action Research Journal https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/reac20
