Daan Rutten is the Coordinator of Open Science at Tilburg University. He studied Culture Studies at Tilburg University and he obtained his PhD at the department of Modern Dutch Literature at the University of Utrecht. His dissertation concerns the play-element in the modernist literature of the Dutch writer Willem Frederik Hermans, and the philosophy of Jacques Lacan and Slavoj Zizek. Rutten worked for the Huygens Institute in The Hague as an editor of the collected volumes of Hermans. He is preparing the biography of Jan Romein, and a book on the philosophy of play and politics. With Leon Hanssen, he founded the journal Into the Magic Circle, that will be deployed via Open Journals.
